The Spatial Patterns of Student Mobility Before, During and After the Bologna Process in Germany

The paper contributes to the literature investigating students’ spatial mobility. By focusing on German higher education students with a novel dataset providing data from 1999 2015, we evaluate impact of change one-tiered two-tiered study structure bachelor and master degrees (Bologna reform) their inter-regional mobility its underlying drivers. Our analysis confirms system slightly alter students. However, differences distinguish between different fields universities und applied sciences indicate that is fairly resilient in allocation A Bologna-Drain moving rural urban regions programs, can partially be confirmed for business studies. results reject idea (low) tuition fees discouraging enrolling specific locations.
